When to implant an indwelling catheter for long-term drainage?

Recurrent pleural fluid and ascites can occur in patients as symptoms of various diseases. Examples of such diseases are malignant and benign tumours, but also liver cirrhosis or heart failure. Shortness of breath, pain and fatigue are some of the symptoms caused by. the fluid and affects the patient. To effectively relieve these symptoms and improve the patient’s quality of life, an indwelling catheter can be implanted with a low risk of complications. Our special drainage sets are easily connected to the catheter’s safety valve.

The safety valve and all our drainage sets have a unique coupling and thus prevent misconnections. In this way, patient safety is maintained even when the patient is at home.

What services can we offer to help you?

After implantation of the catheter, drainage is done in hospital. If there are no complications, the patient can usually be discharged immediately. In most cases, the hospital contacts us to make sure that those who will be caring for the patient have been trained. If there is a need for training, we will contact you to make an appointment. Of course, you are also welcome to contact us to make an appointment, in case we have not received information about the implantation.

During the training, our staff will show you how to use our drainage kits in a correct and patient-safe way. We can also help you order more drainage materials and answer your questions. Of course, we are also available after the training if you have any questions. For medical concerns, we can also put you in touch with specialists.

Our trainings are of course free of charge and we are happy to come and train more times if needed.
